25 January 2010 – Updated the documentation, switched it from a text document to a html file and included psd sources for the 5 color schemes.
Creating a layout / customizing the pre-built ones
Creating a new layout is as simple as opening a base file (included in the package) and
stacking different modules ( basically variable width, pre-coded 1, 2 and 3 column tables)
until the desired layout is obtained.
You will find included in the package:
- the base html file
- html file with all the modules
- placeholder images of different sizes to make mock-ups even faster and easier!
- a text document with “Lorem Ipsum” text for faster mock-ups
- 7 generally used layouts already created; useful from anything from newsletters,
postcards, product presentation etc ( check out the live preview to see them)
Customizing the look and feel of the new layout is simple as well thanks to the commented
embedded css styles.
After modifying the css style you need to make it from embedded to inline to make sure the
html email will look the same in different readers. This is a time consuming task but you
will not need to do these as you will find included a link to a online service that does
that instantly and best of all free!
Also you will find 7 layouts already costumized, in both original embedded css version and
the inline css version. Check out the live preview for examples.
Documentation
The documentation is extensive and takes you step by step through creating / modifying and
customizing different html email layouts. The documentation also has a section with general
tips of what to take into account when building any kind of html email.
