Doing something to make sure that you are using the best html email design possible for your marketing plan can seem like a daunting task. I know that when I first began putting together email newsletter templates that I thought I was going to have a hard time dealing with all of the problems that often arise when someone takes on the task of html coding.

If you are anything like me, then you know how difficult and troubling it can be to work with html email templates that you have designed yourself. I found that one of the first things that I needed to do in order to make sure that the email design remained intact when I put together the email was to remove any of the background images that I had originally embedded in the email. This is because not all email browsers will allow the images to appear in the manner in which you intend them. So, after sending out a few scrambled email messages I removed the background image and found that it translated much better.

While I still do use some pictures in the main portion of the email design, you have to make sure that you word and place your email scheme around the fact that these images may not show up. Because of viruses and other problems many browsers will automatically block images that are sent through the email. So, while you may want to include the images in your email template, I found that it was also essential to make sure that any information that might be in the pictures would also need to be relayed through the text of the email in case the photos were not readily available.

Once I was able to keep these things in mind it was a lot easier for me to put together the html email template that worked best for my needs. For the most part I have decided to try and keep my email designs as minimal as possible while still trying to relay as much important information as possible in a well placed and neat manner. This way the email recipients can get all of the relevant information that you are trying to relay to them without all of the hassle that a cluttered or scrambled email can cause. Not to mention the fact that cleaner, simpler emails always have a more professional appearance.

Brainstorm Your Ideas
There are many different email templates out there, but not all of them are that great. Email design requires some thought, especially if you’re going to incorporate best practices in your emails. Sending out email marketing templates month after month (or even week after week) means that your customers are going to be seeing a lot of this email template design, so you want it to be great.

One thing some HTML email templates don’t take into account is that designing email newsletter templates is not the same as designing a website. In fact, the two are very different. For example, simple, safe code is best for HTML email design. Fancy CSS code and other advanced features may not be compatible with every type of email system out there, so the more basic you can make your templates, the better.

Proper Use of CSS

The best email templates also make use of inline style tags. Many email programs ignore information between the <head> tags in emails, so any HTML you put there is going to be useless. You do, however, have to be careful with CSS properties since some won’t appear correctly.

There are many other things that best email newsletter templates and other marketing templates should include. Some of these are basic concepts. For example, use ALT tags for all of your images so that some text appears even if your images don’t. Also be sure to use absolute paths instead of relative paths so that all links will work. The last thing you want is for your links to not work.

Readability, Usability, and Click Throughs

File size is very important as well. You want to keep your emails as small as possible—large image size, rich media files, flash, animations, and more will simply cause your emails to be so large that some systems may reject them automatically. Others may see animations and other large images as security issues, causing your emails to be flagged as spam. Always design your email templates to be as small as possible so that you can add in a relevant image or two when necessary.

I have a business where I regularly send out important email information in order to keep clients updated on the various specials and business related news that I put out each month. However, I have found that the best way to do this is to make sure that I put together the information in a well designed and thought out email scheme so that they are not just reading an average email. One way to successfully accomplish this is to make sure that you are using an email design that will work for your businesses needs.

For example, I needed to find a way to list information about upcoming events and specials in my emails while at the same time relaying some other important business news. You want to be sure that you don’t immediately lead off with something that sounds like “hey, come and buy this.” Instead, you want to make sure that the opening of your email marketing template starts off with some basic information about the company and what it is that you specialize in or do. Then, you can weave the other aspects of what you are trying to sell into the email so that it does not seem like you are pushing yourself off on them too strongly.

One way that I have found to accomplish this is by having side bars where I can easily detail the important sales and upcoming events that are going to be taking place in the company while leaving the interior of the message open for the business introduction and greeting. This way the html email design does not appear to be too cluttered or confusing, and your clientele will be able to browse through the information at their leisure. Not only this, but since I have been using email newsletter templates I have heard back from several customers that believe this is a far more professional approach and they like the way that the information is relayed better than the standard email technique I used before.

Not all email templates are designed the same. In fact, email marketing templates are often split into two different camps: non-HTML emails and HTML email templates. When it comes to making your HTML emails look good, there are a number of best practices to follow. HTML email design has come a long way since it was first introduced, but there are some email design principles that not everyone has embraced.

The best email templates are the ones that are clear to read, easy to follow, and are laid out well. These best email newsletter templates include a number of features. For example, most start off with a small line about why the person has received the email. These messages usually mention how the person subscribed to the list, and they often give subscribers the chance to unsubscribe. While you don’t want that to happen, it is a good item to have on your email newsletter templates.
The best email templates are the ones that are clear to read, easy to follow, and are laid out well. The best email newsletter templates include a number of features. For example, most start off with a small line about why the person has received the email. These messages usually mention how the person subscribed to the list, and they often give subscribers the chance to unsubscribe. While you don’t want that to happen, it is a good item to have on your email newsletter templates. If you don’t have an unsubscribe link, some people may start to think you’re spamming them.

Another good aspect of a great email template design is the ability to access a plain text version of the email. This way, people who don’t want to display or can’t display HTML will still be able to get your email. You may also want to provide a link to a webpage posting of your HTML version in case customers, after viewing the plain text version, decide they want to see the HTML newsletter. Don’t forget to spend some time on this plain text version, too. Just because it doesn’t have as many extras, graphics, or colors doesn’t mean that it’s not important.

Finally, think about the amount of information you’re presenting in your emails. If you’re going to be including several full-length articles, it may be more helpful to send out extracts that link to the full articles instead of including all of the full articles in your email. This way, your customers won’t find themselves wading through long articles that they have no interest in reading.
